davidjustsmiles: Your Chrono Trigger screenshots are giving me so many feels it's insane.

GOOD.

eldersun: I've been wondering about this for a while, but when you kill Magus with Frog at their dual, why doesn't frog immediately turn human again? Sorry if this seems really dumb, it's been a bit since I last played Chrono Trigger, but I don't remember Lavos having anything to do with Frog staying a frog after Magus dies. Or, if you have Magus join your team, why wouldn't he be nice enough to change Glen back? Just some entertaining Chrono Trigger lore.

Those are good questions. I’m sure most, if not all of us, would’ve loved to play as Glenn.

I used to wonder if maybe Lavos did have something to do with it, like maybe it had some kind of connection to Magus in terms of magic. But then I wondered, wouldn’t he have learned most of his magic from Ozzie & co.? Sure, he had the blood of the Enlightened within him, but he was no doubt raised/taught by Ozzie and whoever. The Mystics seemed to be the ones with transformative magic (e.g., Flea). Then again, defeating Ozzie a second time is optional, so there probably isn’t a connection with the Mystics’ magic either…

As for Magus joining the team, I have no idea why he wouldn’t change him back, other than he no longer has the ability—which is the case with his magic skills once he joins the party (RPG clichés #140, The Magus Rule).

Anonymous: is there a chrono trigger anime? :O

No, there isn’t. Well, not a series at least.

We’ve only got the PSX cutscenes and the 16 min. OVA that was shown at V-Jump ‘96 as a sort of promo. It’s called Nuumamonja: Time and Space Adventures and takes place the night before Chrono Trigger begins. It features a Nu and kilwala.

The recent “anime” pictures I posted (which you were probably referring to) are from the OVA.

ciaranharkness: About the whole "Marle using fire" thing, it's actually still in the game. The box art was based on the Triple Tech "Arc Impulse".

Yep, I’m aware of this, too. But I’m by no means an expert ,of course, so is there confirmation of this?

During “Arc Impulse”, Marle appears to be casting ice, which then turns into fire once Crono is in the air prepared to strike down with his sword. So, as far as I can tell, she doesn’t actually cast fire. To be specific, fire does not appear out from her hand. Could be a minor detail, but it makes much more sense to me for the box art to have been based on the beta screenshot, as the two are pretty much identical.

Or, it’s possible that they just modified the attack afterwards, in which case I suppose Marle sort-of-but-not-exactly casts fire in that instance.

davidjustsmiles: Notice how Marle is doing Fire on the Cover of the SNES cartridge c: just thought i would let you know >.>

Haha, definitely.

The cover art is based on what was established during CT’s beta phase, before the game was finished, specifically mirroring the screenshot in this post. Also, here’s a better view. :)
